ABLECNC is a brand representing K-beauty beyond Korea

The beauty industry expects a large influx of customers due to mega events such as the summer season and Black Friday. When such an important event is held, if service usage is not smooth or payment is not possible due to a rapid increase in inflow volume due to a rapid increase in inflow volume, it will go beyond business loss and lead to cost loss.

Check out how ABLECNC, which pioneered a new market called road shop cosmetics with “Misha” in the early 2000s, used Watab to reduce cost losses and provide stable and smooth services at large-scale events!

Introduction: Introduction to customers and the state of infrastructure

Please introduce ABLECNC companies and the services they provide.

ABLECNC Co., Ltd. is continuing company-wide efforts to become a company that fulfills sustainable development and social responsibility with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) standards at the highest level in a rapidly changing business environment. We present new style standards through various product lines, such as high-quality foundation, color, body, and hair, without price bubbles, and prioritize beautifully changing the lives of our customers and us. Furthermore, through a global distribution network, it currently operates more than 50,000 sales outlets in 38 countries including the United States, China, Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia, and has established itself as a major company in the global beauty market by being named for 10 consecutive years on the list of the global beauty and fashion journal “WWD (Women's Wear Daily),” which publishes the world's top 100 cosmetics companies every year.

Please tell me about the current infrastructure configuration of ABLECNC.

The network physically uses the AWS public cloud, IDC, and our own servers. Offline store servers are operated through IDC, online stores use the AWS public cloud, and in-house vaccines and services use headquarters servers.

What services of WTAP do you use?

I'm currently using Watab application monitoring and database monitoring.

Challenge: Monitoring implementation journey and problems solved

Please explain the background behind the introduction of WTAP monitoring.

I joined ABLECNC in 2019 to understand the current state of infrastructure. There was no monitoring when I joined. The PRM used in the store and the web application server (WAS) in the ERP system used internally were somewhat unstable, so I thought we should take action before receiving complaints from employees. While considering SaaS and installation (on-premise), I chose to implement Watap monitoring, which is SaaS.

What kind of monitoring did you use before?

I have experience using all domestic and international monitoring, from commercial software to open source. Also, since we are all engineers, we have built our own monitoring experience.

Why did you choose Watap from multiple monitoring options?

When I was thinking about introducing monitoring, I used an overseas monitoring service with WTAP as a test during the pilot phase. After comparing and using the two products, I finally chose Watab. External monitoring was difficult due to factors such as UI, language, etc., which required learning time for as many team members as possible to use it universally. Whatap, on the other hand, had an intuitive UI, fast service feedback, and was easy to learn. Also, I chose it because it is a monitoring service that fits well with the keyword “integration,” which was considered the most important in introducing monitoring.

What were your expectations when introducing Watab and what were the actual results of the implementation?

The beauty industry hosts mega events during certain seasons. Since the inflow volume and resource usage during an event can be viewed at a glance, being able to quickly identify problems is a major advantage. Also, it's very convenient to be able to know the situation through notifications. The company sets up monitoring every time, but even so, it is difficult to check in situations such as when you are away from your seat or away from work. I'm happy to be able to quickly check the status with the notification. Also, being able to get direct help with monitoring is a huge advantage. Thanks to the fact that they always actively support support requests via chat, email, and even phone calls when in a hurry, we receive great help in monitoring and operation.

Please share your most memorable experience of solving a problem with WhaTap.

Before the introduction of monitoring, it was necessary to check each area separately, including applications, servers, and databases in the event of a failure. Since Wattap was introduced, the overall situation can be checked at a glance with the FlexBoard, which is an integrated monitoring dashboard, so it is possible to quickly recognize where the problem occurred. Since it was possible to immediately identify problem points, improvements were also made quickly, and thanks to this, not only was the response faster compared to before monitoring was introduced, but the recurrence of problems was also greatly reduced.

I read an article about the number of new customers increased by 230,000 while introducing unconventional prices through Nego Wang in '23. How was Watap helpful while playing King Nego?

King Nego will start the event 15 minutes after the content is live. At the time, the number of concurrent users per hour was around 12,000 to 13,000. I've set it up so that you can collect and view projects and indicators that may cause unexpected problems with the FlexBoard, which I mentioned a while ago. It was very nice to be able to see, check, and prevent at a glance without having to check them one by one. Of course, we were well prepared for an event as big as Nego Wang's summer season sales and Black Friday, but (Laughter) We were able to check the current service status in real time with WhaTap, and we received a lot of help from Watap engineers regarding the settings for the event.

Management: Why I recommend Watab for B2C service companies

What features do you use the most in the Watap service?

Heatmaps are most commonly used in application dashboards. We are troubleshooting issues by keeping an eye on transactions that have elapsed for a long time or are yellow or red in the heatmap. In particular, during events, we mainly monitor inflows and resource usage. Based on this, preparations are being made, such as scaling up in advance. It is a strong basis for taking measures in advance to determine when and where the load occurs on our system through Watab.

SQL statistics are heavily used in database monitoring. I'm using it to check how many queries are generated on average and to check the rock tree.

When it comes to services, one of the important things is a security perspective. Since it is possible to check whether it is a DDoS attack or not when the inflow volume is high, it is possible to check whether it is a DDoS attack or not, so this function is also used a lot.

If you have any tips for using Watap, please share them.

Our team always keeps Watap monitoring on big televisions. The reason for doing this is that it is designed so that we can respond quickly when abnormal signs suddenly occur. For companies that use Watap monitoring, I think one tip is to display them on a big screen and receive notifications so that anyone can view them.

Please tell us why you recommend Watab.

If you compare the time you receive technical support from an overseas monitoring service engineer with the time you receive technical support from a Watap engineer, then Watap is much faster. From the perspective of running a service, receiving quick feedback and applying it to the service is the best and most important thing, and I am very satisfied with using Watap Monitoring in that regard. Furthermore, they can even receive performance consulting, so the level of satisfaction is very high.

I think WTAP is the only monitoring platform that can compare to global companies in SaaS monitoring. I'm very happy that it has more features than when we first introduced it, and that improvements are being made to make it easier to use.

What would you say to companies considering using Watab?

As the saying goes, “lose a cow and fix a barn,” you can think of monitoring as a tool to prepare for after a disaster. However, I personally think monitoring is a tool used to prepare ahead. There is a limit to what people can do on their own, so I think it's better to get help from tools. Also, when a failure occurs, it is possible to respond quickly through notifications, so I think it's a good idea to use it.

For our service as a B2C company, a failure quickly becomes a financial loss. This is because the losses when you don't convert to a payment are huge. For B2C companies, monitoring is essential for service operations. Since monitoring can reduce business losses and costs due to loss, and is the easiest way to stabilize performance, I am convinced that monitoring is a necessity rather than an option.
